How I select wedding film music

When producing your wedding film, I give special care to every detail so that you have a video that truly emulates what it was like to be there.

One of the first questions I ask my couples is if they have any music preferences or hard vetoes. This helps me get a sense of their music taste and personality long before the wedding day.

Then, throughout the wedding day, I'll check in with them and their loved ones to ask what they're feeling - "I'm good" won't cut it. I want to hear how they're really processing the moment. This will not only spark precious dialogue for their film, but it will give me a window into their worlds, which will help me select a soundtrack that accurately represents how they experienced the day.

When I'm in the production process, I'll first weave together video and audio clips to create a rough outline of their story. Then I'll browse my music catalogs to find options that fit their style, but most importantly, evoke the same emotions they felt in those moments.

I generally gravitate toward tracks that don't have lyrics. Instrumental tracks often age better and are less distracting, but there are situations in which a chorus really celebrates the moment in its entirety.

Finally, I'll make magic happen by carefully editing the details. It's the small touches, like transitions and synced up moments, that really make a film come alive.

Side note: After receiving their final files, my couples have seven days to raise any concerns they have with the film(s), and I will make reasonable edits free of charge. So, if I missed the mark, and you want different music, you can rest easy knowing that I'll try again. After all, I hope you will treasure your wedding film for decades!
